My Classic Car

My Classic Car

The Jaguar XK150 classic sports car was manufactured by the Jaguar company to change the XK140 model. This car was produced between 1957 and 1961 and was available in two versions: fixed head coupe and drop head coupe. While the history is fascinating this is the kind of car I can call my classic car.

The XK150 was launched by Jaguar in 1957 and it was a considerable improvement from the predecessors, XK120 and XK140. It had a 3.4 liters DOHC engine and a four speed Moss transmission. Also, the brand new body from the car was focused on increasing the interior space as well as on offering good visibility. Whether or not the car's final touches represented a mix between the XK120 and also the XK140, additionally, it were built with a lot of features, like a higher front wing, a new broader radiator grille or even the leather car interior.

For the 1958 Jaguar XK150 the transmission options were the Borg-Warner automatic gearbox and also the overdrive. The XK150 with steel wheels and with all the improvements produced by Jaguar is a rarity on the market, which makes it my classic car option. Besides disc brakes, the Jaguar V8 classic sports car was the very first post war sports car available on the market with a choice available between engine sizes. Jaguar also manufactured the "special model" of the XK150 powered by "S" versions of every engine.

The 1958 Jaguar XK150 classic sports car would be a better version from the first XK150 model. It were built with a manual overdrive gearbox, triple carburetors and a powerful engine. The engine had a gold painted cylinder head and three carburetors. The model's performance was increased by enlarging the bore that improved horsepower, now in a position to reach 220. New improvements were designed to the inside of the car as well, making the XK150 more civilized by adding roll-up door windows and door handles. This 1958 XK150 model is really a rare car, because only 282 units were built in those days and only 115 of those were fixed head coupe, on the local market.

In 1960, Jaguar replaced its 3.4 engine with a 3.8 liters engine which was rated to 220 hp in standard tune or to 265 hp for that XK150 "S" model. The top-speed was of 217 km/h and the car could go from zero to 60 mph in just 7.0 seconds. Moreover, the Dunlop 12 inch discs brakes were used the very first time. The suspension and the chassis were similar with those employed for the XK140.

The most popular type of XK150, built between 1958 and 1961 was the fixed head coupe which was bought from 4445 units, then the 2670 units of drop head coupes sold and by the 2260 Roadsters ever produced. The production of the XK150 model is the most significant one because it had the most adaptable and log-lived engine developed in the postwar history.

The Jaguar XK 150 classic car continued the elegance and the rapidity from the XK120 and also the XK140 and became a legend because of its long flowing lines from the hood. This classic sports car has got the long-lasting British charm that distinguishes it from any other car and causes it to be a winning candidate for my classic car list. It's an amazing classic car that still impresses everyone. Therefore is considered a great investment by classic car collectors from all around the globe.

So what can I only say? The Jaguar remains an excellent brand for this very day and gives the saying "a cat has nine lives" a totally new meaning. That's my type of classic car!
